Fauna

Drakes ar small, dragon-like, winged reptiles. Like dragons they eat various metals and stones; storing the minerals in their scales, resulting in a wide variety of colors and a thick, armor-like hide. They have also adapted to elemental conditions, believed to be caused by the consuption of majjyck crystals. These adaptations have resulted in various elemental sub-species. The known sub-species of drake are: Aurora (light), Eldritch (dark), Geyser (water), Infernal (fire), Richter (earth), Spectral (void), Taser-Tongue (lightning), and Vortex (wind).

• Aurora Drakes are typically brightly colored, and have luminescent organs that shine through their skin, they are capable of releasing a cemical mixture from a gland under their tongues that, upon contact with oxygen, emits a blinding flash of light. They have rib like bones n their neck that can flatten, much like the hood of a cobra, their wings are often lighter than the rest of their body, and frequently sport a colorful array of plumage.
  
• Eldritch Drakes are usually very dark in color, and produce a thick cloud of black smog from their lungs, the exact source of this smog is currently unknown. They are longer than other specis of Drake and have a 'beard' of tendril-like appendages on their face, and unlike other species of Drake, their tails, as well as their facial tendrils, are prehensile.
  
• Geyser Drakes have microscales, giving them a much smoother texture than other Drakes, they also have a bladder-like organ that is capable of storing large quantities of water, or any other fluid, which they can then project from their mouths at incredibly high velosities. In addition to lungs, Geyser Drakes have gills, and unlike other Drakes, they have webbed digits on all four feet, as well as fin-like  wings and folds of skin along their spine and tail.
  
• Infernal Drakes are often in varying shades of warm colors, with horn-like growths atop thier skull and down their spine. Their tails end in a spike or barb-like growth of bone that can be used to attack. They have a set of glands that each produce substances that when combined, become extremely volatile, bursting into flames and giving off excessive heat when it comes into contact with the air around them. They have large bat-like wings.
  
• Richter Drakes come in a variety of earthen tones, such as browns and greens, and instead of wings, have three sets of very powerful legs, allowing them to gallop at great speeds and stomp with enough force to cause minor seismic activity. They have a more slender build and longer legs than most drakes, and have been known to neigh. They have long, thing, strong tails that are held straight behind them as they run, improving balance and acting as a rudder to help them turn, when still their tail typically lays on the ground, and if needed can be used to attack, and cuses a tremendous amount of force.
  
• Spectral
  
• Taser-Tongue Drakes are typically brightly colored, most often in shades of blue, yellow, silver, light grey and white. Their eyes can move independently of one another and they can extend their togues over great distances to attack prey from affar. In additin to this they can charge large amounts of lightning majjyck through their tongue, and are capable of paralyzing prey much larger than themselves.

Karayom Pansit

Motapayollalia are giant isopods with a thick, segmented, armor-like shell and are capable of curling into a large armored ball, much like an armadillo or a pill bug. They are omnivorous, eating large quantities of small bugs, animals and plant matter by sifting it out of the sand with their multiple mandibled mouths. While curled into a ball they can roll around, by spasmodically contracting their internal organs in the desired direction.

Oculi Deorum are large, floating, yggdrasilean, jellyfish-like creatures that have transparent bodies and a slight bio-luminescent glow. These migratory predators excrete nematocystic neurotoxins from their tendrils, which hang from the underside of their body. They lure in prey with their wide variety of bright colors, the prey then gets tangled in their tendrils and is slowly digested alive and aware, but unable to move or even scream for help. When severely injured, ill or otherwise near death, the Oculi Deorum will digest itself, leaving behind a small, crystal-like seed that will grow into a new Oculi Deorum given enough time, water, sunlight, and nutrients; as these seeds are nigh indistinguishable from the crystals used as currency across Xerakhan, adventurers are advised to take great caution when retrieving fallen funds, so as not to become a new beings first meal.

Phienx are brightly colored, avian felines of a yggdrasilean persuasion, they are typially a deep violet, with long tail feathers ending in bright emerald tips. Phienxen are playful, predatory carnivores, they are known for playing with local people and wildlife, even their own food. Though they are non-migratory, they have been seen far outside their natural habitats, the jungles of Xiao Qiu, in hunt of their favorite food, the Tyrian Dragon Wasp. They are easily recognized by not only their vibrant colors, but also thier distinctive, yodeling call. They were once used as pets, but due to their habit of trying to feed their favorite food to their owners, likely just because they enjoy sharing with friends, this practice has stopped.

Scir Wargs are large, yggdrasilean canines, with fur-like moss and a patch of dorsal grass giving them a maned appearance. They are hostile, predatory, and very territorial. Due to their yggdrasilean nature, they blend in very well with their surrounding flora, and are completely indistiguishable from a grassy mound while laying prone.

Slooge are a large, desert dwelling, shelled mollusk (much like earth snails). They are often used by traveling merchants due to their shell being easily modified into a shop cart, as well as its spacious interior.

Therian Vinca is a long, thin, parasitic, yggdrasilean stranglevine-like snake with small, leaf like appendages to help it climb and move about. It lives amongst the branches trees of heavily wooded areas, and hunts by dropping on, biting, and burrowing their heads into the body of their unsuspecting prey. Their venom is a known source of the Therianthropic Virus.

Tyrian Dragon Wasp is a large, viscious, and highly territorial insect. It grows to approximately eight inches long, though cases of twelve inch wasps is not uncommon. They are golden, with shiny black stripes, and have a wingspan of about twelve to fifteen inches. Their pincer-like mandibles are capable of biting through bone, and their stingers are typically between two and three inches long and hollow like a hypodermic needle. Their venom causes agonizing pain, gross hemolysis, and necrosis in the affected tissue. They have been known to burrow into their victims and die, leaving an exoskeleton filled with larva which eat their way out, and travel through the host until they hatch. Upon hatching the young wasps will eat their way out of their host, usually killing them. A single fully grown Tyrian Dragon Wasp is known to be capable of taking down a Bull Scir Warg, and drag its corpse back to its nest. They prefer arid, mountainous habitats, as they often carve their massive, cavernous nests into stone.

Villamort are large rodents with short, furry tails. They typically grow to about ten feet tall and fifteen feet long. They have short, blunted snouts, elongated (front teeth), and four-fingered, hand-like paws. And once a year, those that have reached a certain age will gather in large groups and stampede off the nearest cliff into the ocean, killing themselves and anyone unfortunate enough to get in their way. As grazing animals they prefer flat, grassy areas.

Zerua Krepe are large, amphibious avians, with a wide flat body with wings protruding on either side; and a long, barbed, perhensile tail that contains a paralytic venom. They have an average length, from head to tail, of eight feet, with the tail being five feet long; and a wingspan of five feet. Aside from hunting, their tail is also used by wrapping it around branches or protrusions of rock, allowing them to hang upside down while they sleep, or are simply hanging out. They have been known to hunt prey larger than themselves, by paralyzing it then wrapping their tail around it in a constricting manner, and wrapping their wings around it to prevent flailing until their prey is crushed to death. They live in the mountinous regions along the coast of Quan Tang.

Flora

Ambroachladi is a tree with white leaves, white flowers and golden fruit, its leaves and flowers have a slight glow. It contains a thick black sap that is said to be very sweet. Its fruit is said to have a flavor similar to that of vinegar, but much sweeter. The tree is known for its medicinal properties, as every part of it has healing properties of varying potencies.

Baumblitz is a small, shrub-like tree that produces a long, slender, bright yellow, citrus fruit of the same name from bright, luminescent, yellow flowers. The peel of the fruit is made of two parts, the outer zest, which produces a strong, citric scented oil, and the pith, a white fibrous part with a strong bitter taste. The fruit itself has an overpowering citric flavor with equally powerful properties as a stimulant. The sap of the tree has similar flavor and stimulant properties and, like the flower, is luminescent. The tree feeds off of lightning majjyck, accounting for the various properties of its byproducts, as well as their tendency to fuel those who consume them with a powerful electric charge.

Brambleheart a dark and twisted thicket of gnarly, thorned vines, only one has ever been seen, and reports of its existence are unconfirmed.

Cadere Vitis is a fruit bearing vine, it is considered toxic and an ill omen by most societies. The vines grow rapidly and strangle out other flora if not kept in check. The Cadere Vitis blossoms are a bright pink with white streaks, and have a subtle yet sweet scent. The fruit are a deep crimson, and have been know to cause Cadere Vitis Syndrome (named for the plant).

Cinderberry vines grow rampant in hot, arid regions and are known for their overwhelming spice, as well as their extreme stimulant and exothermic properties. The berries are collected for use as food, and their pits are commonly roasted, ground and brewed as a tisane. Those who eat Cinderberries or Cinderberry byproducts have been known to be more resistant to cold temperatures and gain power in fire majjycks. Tisane made from Cinderberry pits has also been known to increase a consumers physical strength.

Danderplume are a ground covering vegetation with long broad leaves and tall flowering stalks. The leaves are often between four and eight feet long; and between two and three feet wide. The stalks have been known to grow as tall as twelve feet tall, the flowers often being one to two feet in diameter. When mature, the flowers turn into a ball of seeds each with it's own white, silky parachute to carry it away on the wind. The pollen has been known to carry Tactus Illustris.

Embergheists are black, thorned vines that grow large orange gourds with luminescent seeds. many species of Embergheist exhibit a migratory behavior, and upon ripening will shed their roots, and drift to a new location before dropping their seeds, this has leads to many legends about phantasms that lurk the swamps at certain times of the year. As the gourd ripens it splits in varying patterns, often resembling a face, in order to release its seeds upon reaching a new sprouting location.

Hahana is a hardy, flowering, ground covering vine-like herb, its flowers bear a nut-like fruit, with a thick, hard, stone-like shell. It grows wide-spread across Xerakhan, and is extremely common in flat grassy areas. Those who eat Hahana or Hahana byproducts have been known to be sturdier, and more resistant to damage.

Hawkmoss or Hawkstones are lichens that grow into hard, round protrusions that look and feel like stones, hence the name. They are super-dense, nearing dark-matter, as such they are extremely heavy and abnormally black in color, often looking like a hole in reality rather than a black ball. They grow best in cold, humid areas; and grow larger the more more light they have. Common folklore holds that since Hawkmoss grows into near perfect spheres, that they are good for your eyes and help improve vision; some claim, more specifically, that they aid vision in areas with very little light.

Moiradonna is a perenial with bell shaped, lilac blossoms, that produce sweet, black berries the size of a small plum. Contains a severely fatal strain of Tactus, Tactus Ultimus.

Mynthcosprouts are small fungal growths that are commonly found in frigid and freezing climates, the start out as a sickly, pale green but turn a light periwinkle when ripe and darken with age. Though they are edible, they have been known to cause hallucinations, some claim that they simply allow you to see what would otherwise be invisible due to stealth, but this remains to be confirmed, it is known however that they allow those who eat them to see in a wider range of light levels. They are said to have a very potent minty taste and are extremely endothermic. Those who eat Mynthcosprouts or Mynthcosprout byproducts have been known to be more resistant to hot temperatures and gain power in water majjycks

Perlbord is an algae that grows in dense, woodlike beams, often forming into various geometric shapes. It has puzzled scientists and comonfolk alike with its bizzare growth patterns, floating across the oceans of Quan Tang, or lakes throughout Xerakhan, in tetrahedrons, cubes,doudecahedrons, and the like. It is favored by various smiths and wrights for its 'wood' as it makes an excellent building material.

Rahvede is a golden grain with large, plump, amber kernels that give off a honey-like scent. They flourish better in high heat, low humidity areas, making them the preferred crop for desert communities.

Skups are bulbous, cacti that swells with toxic juices, to enormous sizes until some external force causes it to pop, spewing toxins all over the surrounding area.

Sucrebloom is a wild growing, flowering shrub common in the swamplands of Xiao Qiu. It is prized for its beautiful blossoms that come in a variety of pale pinks, with unique patterns ranging from lavender to violet. It has a sickeningly sweet scent, that most consider repulsive and offensive.

Wispwood, also called Wispmother, is a large tree with a wide canopy and long trailing boughs. Its silver leaves are long, thin and coil into a helix shape. It grows glimmering silver flowers that form dark grey pods that, when matured, burst open releasing a cottony fluff that carries its seeds on the wind. Wispwood grows best in moist, rocky climates with low light. Both its sap and nectar are thick, glimmering and silver in color.

Yersin Hyphae is a thick, black, mucous like fungus that grows in small puddles in the swamps of Xiao Qiu. Due to being completely indistinguishable from juvenile morphoplasms, many believe them to be one in the same, and while evidence to the contrary is slim, this is not likely to be the case. The spores of Yersin Hyphae have been known to carry Tactus Tenebris.
